Emily Manalo Ruiz, artist
In a small mountain town just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, Emily Ruiz is crafting handmade, heirloom-quality pieces in the form of flags.
The little cabin you see in the photos is where Emily called home and work, happily, for years in Cruso, North Carolina (also near Candler, NC). She creates flags that can be both fun and cheeky or personal and touching. The General flag below is dedicated to her father, a retired Navy man. You can see the intention in the details and the vision is both unique and approachable.
When preparing for this session, I asked Emily “what does your company stand for?”.
Her reply was simply “Art for art’s sake and personal expression.”
Kind Words from the client
“They [the photos] are better than I could have hoped for. Words are inadequate… It says so much about the trust & respect I have for you to actually feel comfortable in front of your camera. The details you captured of a time & place so special to me are priceless. What a magical day it was.”
